IOL POWER CALCULATION
IOL power is the power in dioptres of the intra- ocular lens to be implanted in the eye.
- The patients keratometry (i.e., corneal curvature measurement in X and Y axis ) is determined first with a Keratometer.
- The values with patient's bio- data is fed in the A- Scan Biometer, i.e., the machine to calculate IOL Power.
- The patient is seated on a stool and eye is anaesthetized and a small probe is placed over the cornea either by contact or a non- contact method.
- The system gives an echogram, which shows the actual length of the eyes. The parameters are fed into the pre- selected IOL calculation formulas and a computed IOL power is obtained. The system gives printouts of complete test, IOL calculations alone, Echogram alone, Comparison Chart of selected IOL design, etc.

ND: YAG LASER IRIDOTOMY
It is a safe, non- invasive, inexpensive OPD procedure, which is indicated in
Primary Angle- closure Glaucoma - acute, intermittent, chronic.
Fellow eyes in which an acute attack of Angle Closure glaucoma occurred in the opposite eye as prophylactic procedure.
Narrow occludable angle susceptible to Acute Congestive glaucoma Secondary Angle closure Glaucoma with papillary block patient is totally relieved of glaucoma in its acute and intermitted angle closure variety. Some patients with Chronic Angle Closure Glaucoma also get relieved by this simple OPD procedure.

ND: YAG POST CAPSULOTOMY
It is a safe, non- invasive, inexpensive OPD procedure used to treat posterior capsular opacification. The key to safe and successful laser capsulotomy is accurate focussing and using the minimal amount of energy required to puncture the capsule. A drop of 1 % apraclonidine is instilled 1 hour before treatment to prevent the possibility of a subsequent rise in intra-ocular pressure. Posterior capsular opacification is the most common late complication of uncomplicated ECCE/ PHACO.
ND YAG posterior capsulotomy is a safe and easy modality to treat it. |
HUMPHREY VISUAL FIELD
Analyser is an automated perimeter. It is used for confirming the suspicion of glaucoma as well as to document progression of visual field defects if any, in confirmed cases of glaucoma. The advantages of this modality of perimetry and manual perimetry is that there is absence of any examiner bias, constant monitoring of fixation and the ability to retest abnormal points automatically. It can perform many different forms of visual field testing like full threefold (30-2, 24-2), SITA, SWAP, Full- screening etc.

ULTRASOUND B- SCAN
We gave B-scan with 10 MHZ probe. The scan gives a cut section of the eye in a plane. It is most useful tool in cases of opacity, where we want to study posterior segment of eye e.g.- trauma cases, mature cataracts, corneal opacities, uveitis patients, etc. The tool has diagnostic and prognostic role in many ocular conditions. The dynamic nature of investigation scores upper hand over radiological investigations.
FFA
FFA is a diagnostic tool helpful in many conditions mainly diabetic patients, AMD, vascular malformations and occlusions etc. The procedure involves injection of an iodine based fluorescein dye in the arm. Once the dye reaches retinal vasculture it's course is recorded with help of special camera with filters. The procedure is non- invasive and does not require admission. |
